On the whole - I can say that I recommend this film for all to see as it is wholesome and yet clever and entertaining. Those comments don't seem to go together nowadays when discussing film even though Stephen Baldwin promises that, one day, Christians will make films that are not worthless piles of rubbish. The wait continues, Mr. Baldwin.

I take in wonderful movie film.........
Whilst my bride attended my sister-in-law's baby shower in Durham, I had the dubious pleasure of attending a movie film by myself. While this sounds awfully lonely, it wasn't half bad - it is kind of nice to be without the talkative child. As I contemplated my fate, nothing seemed to catch my fancy - there was 10,000 BC, but it started earlier. There was Stop-Loss, but I was really not in the mood for another Hollywood political statement movie - so I settled on Horton. Turns out, I made the right choice and yet was dragged into political comparisons nonetheless. The film took some creative liberties with Dr. Seuss's classic (I was raised on his books), but was watchable and had plenty of Jim Carry and Steve Carrel's personalities despite the obvious animation problem. Carol Burnett leant her voice to the role of the domineering kangaroo and reminded me, in the end, of a a much better looking Hillary Clinton. In the climactic scene she raises a ruckus around an issue she clearly does not understand and sways public opinion her own way with senseless emotion until her offspring finally awakens from the stupor and brings order. Not that I have that much faith in Chelsea, but....... just watch it and remember what I said.

The subway guy.......
I am sitting here watching the NCAA tournament and I am barraged by commercials of the Subway guy. I mean, kudos to Jared for getting a plan, sticking with it, and losing all that weight. HOWEVER, now that the deed is done, why not switch to a tastier diet. I mean, Subway sandwiches are not my idea of a life choice - they only started toasting them to keep up with Quizno's and Subway's sandwiches are never fresh. But, I guess if he owes his life and fame to Subway, keep it going.......
So, Duke is out - nobody REALLY cares, but....... Happy Easter
NCAA Tournament
Alright...... so I was working like the rest of the world on Thursday and missed the games. Turns out it wasn't that big a deal since there were no big upsets, exciting games - Duke wanted to repeat last year's early exit, but no major upsets. So I made it a point to catch the action on Friday and the first game I watched was Davidson v. Gonzaga followed by my game of the tournament, so far - Western Kentucky vs. Drake. This all leads nicely to my poll question of the week - biggest upset??

He's back...... w/ vengeance
Ok Ok...... so I have given your minds too much of a vacation - this is evident. I shall continue to post run routes so that you can track your inferiority vs. my superiority, but, in addition to all that, we must get back into some political discussions with the elections approaching rapidly.
Obama was in Fayetteville today - if only he would discuss what "change" means and in what we will be putting our "hope" - I might give a thought to voting for him - he is the most presidential of all three remaining. However, as he continues to mire in the trite sound byte, we are left to rue what could have been. I must endorse John McCain at this juncture - stay tuned.....

A lovely new device......
A true blessing.... nearly brand-new MacBook Pro - my rebound to blogger heaven is complete....
So, let's get started
Matt (MattHarmer-triathlete.blogspot.com) and I went for a short after-church ride this afternoon. The sun was shining and it was just too inviting to sit on my hind end and allow the beauty to go begging. We made our way down Old Wilmington Road and out towards NC 87 when out of someone's driveway comes a dog the size of a horse barreling towards our bikes!! We managed to outrun him, but WHO LEAVES A BEAST LIKE THAT OFF A LEASH!?!?!? I mean, come on, people. Imagine if it had knocked one of us off our bikes?? Doctor bills PLUS the animal would be dead...... let's think about that......
